  • @Adam Kemp: True, there was an outsanding warrant for his arrest, but it seems odd to me that he had crossed the border dozens of times in the past and never been stopped. Now, in the middle of a wave of desertion during an ongoing war, suddenly we're arresting people on 40-year-old warrants?

  • This strikes me as "making an example", trying to stem the tide of desertion among marines resulting from the ongoing war in Iraq (I recall reading somewhere there have been over 2000 desertions so far.) Perhaps they could have picked a better example than someone who deserted almost forty years …

  • I recall reading a recent statistic that a third of Internet traffic in the States is now generated by Bittorrent. Economically, that means that roughly a third of consumers are (most likely) paying for an "unlimited download" bandwidth plan and attempting to actually use it.
